Endoca CBD Chewing Gum: Pure and Natural
Although chewing gums are a good way to use CBD and get rapid absorption into the blood stream, most chewing gums contain a whole lot of artificial ingredients. They’re also bad for the environment, since old chewing gum doesn’t biodegrade. But Endoca chewing gum is different.

  • No Sugar
  • No plastic
  • No preservatives
  • No chemicals
  • Fully biodegradable

Combining Cannabis and Wild Chicle from the Rain Forests:
By combining chicle and cannabis extract with CBD, Endoca has found a way to unite two all-natural wonders of the plant world. Chicle is an ideal carrier for CBD that allows the superficial capillaries in your mouth to absorb CBD over a period of time. It’s also convenient. Just pop a pack of gum into your bag or pocket, and you’re equipped. No need to swallow capsules or worry about leaking bottles of oil in your bag. And you get the assurance that the product you’re using is great for the environment! One of the great advantages of Endoca chewing gum is biodegradability. Once disposed of, its all-natural components will become dust within weeks. It can actually improve the texture of compost.

Sustainability is important:
Sustainability is as important to you as it is to us. By using natural Chicle collected in the Rain Forests of Mexico, we know that we’re not only using a base that won’t harm you and that isn’t produced as a by-product of the petrochemical industry, we also know that we’re encouraging people to grow and protect the Rainforest.

How long have people been chewing Chicle?
It is known that chicle has been chewed by Native Americans since before the arrival of Columbus. When the rainy season arrived, tribesmen would tap the Chicozapote trees and collect the latex, a white, milky substance that turns yellow and thickens to a treacly consistency. Some of the Chicozapote trees live and produce gum for 300 years. The tree itself remains healthy despite yielding copious amounts of latex, but won’t yield any more chicle latex for a few years. Once the latex had been harvested, it would be boiled, allowing the water to evaporate and the latex to thicken into a gum. This was used by Native Americans to temporarily relieve thirst and must have come in handy on long treks through the jungle until a water source could be reached. These trees will not yield latex if planted outside their natural environment. They need the complex biological symphony of the rainforest around them to work their magic. This is one of the reasons why ‘chicleros’ are such brave defenders of their evergreen jungles. The Sapodilla or Chicozapote is a slow-growing evergreen native to the forests of Mesoamerica, including the Mexican states of Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, and Campeche, the Alta Verapaz and Petén regions of Guatemala, northern Belize, and the Atlantic coastal forests of Nicaragua. In 1940, the U.S. had greatly increased import taxes for bring in raw chicle latex from Latin America, and U.S. companies began looking for lower-cost synthetics. The natural gum industry was soon pushed aside in favor of the production of synthetic chewing gum made from petrol-based polymers, that is, plastics.

How is chicle produced?
Chicozapote latex is extracted from 100 ft tall trees by making z-shaped superficial cuts on the bark, which zigzag down to a bag placed at the base. Dripping sap slowly fills the bags. Each tree renders from 3 to 5kg per harvest, then it rests for 6 or 7 years before the next harvest. Trees are not harmed by this practice. Liquid latex is then boiled, dehydrated and brought to a sticky paste, which is stretched, kneaded and moulded into solid marquetas . Each marqueta is carefully marked by its maker. Since the sustainable management of their rainforests is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), these marks contain relevant information that tells us the name of the chiclero who harvested it, and the exact location of the harvested tree in the rainforest. Few products offer such perfect traceability. To make our CBD chewing gum, chicle is melted together with natural waxes before it becomes gum base. Still hot, the gum base is mixed with Xylitol from birch trees, wild peppermint and mint, sunflower lecithin from sunflower seeds, and Hemp oil. Then it is pressed and shaped into chewing gum strips.

Guardians of the rainforest:
The harvesting of Chicle is, and always has been, based upon sustainable practices. Here in the rainforests of Mexico's Yucatán peninsula, home to the ancient Mayan culture and the jaguar, some of Earth's most biodiverse ecosystems survive. Vast extensions of tropical rainforests in southeastern Mexico merge into those in Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua to form the Gran Petén, the second largest rainforest in America after Amazonia. Unlike other regions of Mexico, where up to 80% of the original jungles have been lost to logging, cattle ranching and agriculture, these rainforests have survived. They continue to thrive, covering 1.3 million hectares in the states of Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatán. Jungles that witnessed the development of the Mayan culture are currently home to the jaguar and some of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the planet. The Rainforest faces the huge Mesoamerican coral reef, the second largest in the world. These rainforests have been conserved due to the presence of people, not their absence. Environmentally conscious communities sustainably managed these ancient jungles to the benefit of nature and wildlife. For more than a century, the community, organized as a large, efficient cooperative, has been extracting latex from the tall Chicozapote trees (Manilkara zapota), from which chicle is prepared. CBD Chewing gum is not only a top quality chewing gum, but also an outstanding example of sustainability, active conservation of rainforests and fair exchange between humans and nature. This process goes far beyond the simple production of chewing gum and goes all the way through the distribution chain to the final consumer. When you chew CBD Chewing gum you are close to the essence and spirit of the rainforest, the lungs of our planet. And you make a direct connection with people of the forest.

The concept of sustainability is central to the work of Endoca
It is not only about preserving natural resources, but also about allowing equal and balanced exchanges among many individual elements: the forest, the farmers and their families, the manufacturing, the transportation and the sale of gum to consumers who believe in fairness. Fair trade schemes are bringing much better economic dynamics to many groups of poor farmers around the world.
